Castlevania II: Simon's Quest Redaction - NES

Experience Castlevania II: Simon's Quest the way it was meant to be played. The Redaction hack overhauls the game's notoriously cryptic dialog, confusing hints, and sluggish pacing — making it a far more enjoyable adventure without changing the core gameplay.

Dialog Improvements

• All misleading "false hints" removed — no more wasted items chasing bad tips
• Dialog reordered for better flow (you'll learn about churches healing you before you need it)
• Each town now has an NPC who tells you where you are — no more getting lost
• Place names corrected to match the game's official literature (Ondol → Oldon, Alba → Aldra, etc.)
• Vague hints rewritten with clarity — no more deciphering cryptic riddles
• Additional hints added throughout to guide you on what to do and where to go next
• Signs now include directional info to towns, mansions, and landmarks
• Prologue rewritten to better set the story
• Endings rewritten to reflect how well you performed

Gameplay & Program Changes

• Text renders significantly faster — less waiting, more playing
• Day/night transition reduced from 10 seconds to 4 seconds
• Grim Reaper given double the hit points for a slightly more worthy fight

Graphic Changes

• New font symbols added (arrows, ampersand) for cleaner sign text
• Dracula's face redrawn — now uses the vampire graphic from the password screen

Compatible with original NES hardware (toaster and top loader), Retron HD, Retron 1/2/3, Retro Trio, Retro Bit, and other quality hardware clone systems. Not compatible with Retron 5, Retro Freak, or Mattel NES versions (Android-based emulators).
